WHO AM I?
Hi, I’m Tara, first and foremost I am mum to 5 crazy boys who are aged between 2 and 13 years of age at the time of writing this. I am also very proud to be the founder of the multi-award winning Dreamee Teepees Slumber Parties. You can find out more about by business by clicking on the image.
Dreamee Teepees was founded when I was on maternity leave after having my 4th son. I was due to return to my job as a primary school teacher and was frantically worried about how I would manage my commitments as a teacher alongside my commitments as a mum of children with additional needs. One of sons has a rare congenital heart condition, meaning he needs lots of hospital visits, constant care and regular medication. Also, 3 of my 5 boys have a rare lifelong blood condition called haemophilia, meaning that they can suffer with internal bleeding into their muscles and joints for no apparent reason, which can be debilitating.
After having my 4th son, with all the complications that my life entailed, I made a huge decision to leave my job as teacher to start up a business of my own. I needed to have the flexibility that owning my own business could offer me so that I could provide the care that my boys needed. As you might expect I made some great decisions and some even better mistakes. But starting my very own teepee sleepover business was the right decision for me.
I have a crazy, stressful, busy life and yet I have built a business in the midst of it all. It really still is unbelievable when you say it out loud, but it is true. Over the past 4 years I have built this business up into one that not only supports my family but also provides an income for other mums too. Now I want to help as many mums as I can work around their families just like I do.
